BEWARE These Speaking Business Predators!!!

I just received the following email this morning. It’s not the first one of this kind I’ve received.

Read the email below — then read my STRONG WORDS OF WARNING below the email.

POINTS OF WARNING!!!

  1. This email was not addressed to me. It had the senders email in both the FROM and TO fields of the email. That tells me they’re using a cheese BCC process to spam me. I know I’m not on an opt-in list with this organization. And… it’s clear to me they “harvested” my email address from the web. Probably searched for “speakers.”
  2. They lead with “we have some opportunities that may interest you.” Then they list some possible “opportunities.”
  3. Paragraph 6 — ah… the real reason they emailed me. “Our membership (keyword - “membership”) is much more than a speakers bureau….” Smell something?
  4. Paragraph 7 a one-time fee of $525.00…. gee I didn’t see that one coming. What… ONLY $525… hmmm if I just booked one gig off this… (see what’s going through the speaker’s mind). Especially if they’re HUNGRY to get booked, don’t know how to REALLY do it, and will do almost anything and are willing to believe ALMOST anything. That’s who this letter is intended for.
  5. More in paragraph 7… check out the BONUS for the 1st 10 people. OK… I visited the website. RUBBISH. And… the email to 2000 meeting planners???? A) That’s spam unless all 2000 have asked this company to send them (which if they spammed ME what are the odds they’re spamming meeting planners with YOUR information), and B) Meeting planners don’t want unsolicited materials from or about speakers. PERIOD!!!! I have an interview with a couple of meeting planners in my Speaker Formula private protege-only forum…. and I’ve been speaking professionally on the circuit since 1999… and I can tell you MEETING PLANNERS DO NOT WANT YOUR STUFF TO COME FLYING INTO THEIR EMAIL BOXES UNSOLICITED!

Anyhow…

You’ve heard my WARNING! I just get REALLY ticked off when these predators go after speakers because they know how DESPERATE they are to get booked.
