Radio Show Host Wayne Kelly Interviews JP Maroney
By JP Maroney | April 25, 2007
Tuesday, radio show host Wayne Kelly interviewed me LIVE on his “Wayne & Jayne” radio show in Canada.
It’s about 6 minutes long I think… and I’m talking about how to never forget a birthday or anniversary again.

INTERVIEW
Â
Wayne:          From KBS it is 8:38. You’re here with Wayne and Whitney. Now, you remember how I was talking about being completely unorganized.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yes.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â And if it wasn’t for my wife no card would ever be sent, no gift would ever be sent.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â You never remember your own kids’ birthdays?
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â No.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Anniversaries?
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Anniversaries I get.Â
Â
Whitney:       Oh, yeah because you know…
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â It’s very costly if I miss something like that.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Big trouble.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah, an anniversary and a birthday for my wife, priority.Â
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â That’s it.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Kids’ I remember.Â
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Okay, so the immediate family I take care of.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Outside of that, too bad.
Â
Wayne:          Can’t do it. I cannot do it. I thought I couldn’t ever do it but then I met JP Maroney from Tyler Texas and we were having this conversation and he let me in on this secret that I have to share with you and everybody else listening this morning. He’s the author of more than 30 books and audio video learning systems including, “The Power to Achieve, Strategies for Achieving Personal and Professional.” He’s on the phone. Good Morning, JP.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Hey.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â How are you?
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I’m good dude.
Â
Wayne:          Excellent. Thanks for coming on the show and sharing this little secret again.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â My pleasure.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Now, do I sound different than most people?Â
Â
JP:                 No you sound like the average person. It’s easy to let the things slip by on you.Â
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah, and you were saying like a belated birthday card just doesn’t cut it.
Â
JP:                 No it’s not the same. I mean they say it’s the thought that counts but it’s sort of like an after thought [Laughter].
Â
Wayne:          And that’s bad. It’s like oops. Tell me about this. What is it all about?
Â
JP:                 Well, I’ve been sending out cards myself for years, always thanking people, following up with people, handwritten notes and the challenge with it is going down, buying a card, getting stamps, remembering to go to the Post Office. I mean I’ve actually filled out cards and had them sit on my desk for days and days, sometimes weeks. I kept intending to get to the Post Office or whatever. So we were really excited when we found this system where we could actually go on the Internet and send a physical greeting card, not an e-card, but a physical greeting card. You just put in the name, address, pick a one of about five or six thousand cards, click a button and then the company actually puts it in the envelope, puts a real stamp on it, sends it to the person. You just forget about it after that.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wow, it’s so authentic.
Â
JP:                 Yeah, it is and you know what’s cool? I thought it was really neat. I’m big on authenticity. I love the word you used. And you can actually give them your handwriting on a little form and they turn it into a font so that the cards are actually written in your handwriting, which is really a bad idea if they want to use my handwriting; but anyway I type much better than I write. Then you can also upload your signature. So it personalizes it. One of the things we’re doing is you can actually put pictures in it off your computer. So we’re uploading pictures. Like if I go and meet with someone or whatever or like I’ll send cards to even my daughter, for example and put a picture or her and my wife and I in the card and write a little nice note about it. So it’s really cool.Â
Â
Wayne:          I was going back cleaning my desk out yesterday and I actually found a Christmas card that I think that was used by this service because as I looked at it there’s no pen imprints on it but they fooled me. It looks just like a real card and just like real writing.
Â
JP:                 It does. It’s really amazing and, you know, people respond to it. They really – I have sent cards and then go and meet with someone and they’ll have the card up on their clipboard or sitting on their desk like a little table tent. People hold on to cards. I mean you just proved it. You held on to this Christmas card for how long, you know.Â
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A few months.
Â
Whitney:       And then also how does this – a lot of people get out of this by sending e-cards so how does this kind of compare to that?
Â
JP:                 Well, for those of you that know that sometimes you don’t get your e-mail to begin with and an e-card while it’s a card it’s certainly no comparison for having that physical card. I mean you think about the emotional gratification that you get when you go to the Post Office, you open it up, the box, and there is an envelope with your name on it. And it kind of gets you excited. I mean you could get a card from somebody you don’t even know and you’re going to open that envelope because you kind of know what a greeting card looks like; but you open it up and it’s another step that, yeah, we’re in an electronic age. And I think that’s what makes physical greeting cards so much more important now is that so many people are in an Internet age. They’re sending e-mails and it’s so quick to hit the delete button, or the forward button, or whatever; but for someone to take the time to send something in the mail to you that you can actually hold on to, put up on your mantle, or hang on your mirror or whatever. It has a special effect to it.Â
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I want to ask you one thing; that you can send out like 100 cards at a time, 200, 300 cards?
Â
JP:                 Yeah, you know one of the things that we’re doing. I don’t know what your experience is but for me holiday cards are extremely painful.
Â
Wayne:          Yeah. I agree. Not for me. My wife has a much more tough time than I do.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Wasn’t their like a Seinfeld episode where the girl died from licking too many envelopes?
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yes.
Â
Wayne:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah.
Â
JP:                 But, you know, what you’re finding now is you can send all your greeting cards for your holidays, whether it’s Christmas, or Hanukah, or whatever you use and you can send a crazy card for Thanksgiving or whatever if you wanted to. But you can do all your greeting cards for the holidays, whether is 100, 200, 500 in about 20 minutes.
Â
Wayne:          Okay, I need the Website again. Where do they go to get more information on this?Â
Â
JP:                 They can go. We set up a page actually where people can get a free demo if they’d like to use the system and they just go to www.howtosendacard.com.Â
Â
Wayne:          www.howtosendacard.com. That’s awesome.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Yeah.
Â
Wayne:          I love it. This is going to save my life JP. This is very, very cool.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â I hope so.
Â
Wayne:          Now, JP I want to have you back. I want to have you up on Motivational Monday coming up this week.Â
Â
JP:                 Sounds fun. You know, I’m a big believer in something call agitation motivation. So we’ll talk about that on Monday.
Â
Wayne:          Sounds great. Well, thanks very much for sharing the secret with everybody. This is going to get men and women more time and you don’t have to worry about cards anymore.
Â
Whitney:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Everyone’s going to be happier.
Â
Wayne:          I like it. JP Maroney thanks for being on the show.
Â
JP:Â Â Â Â Â Thanks for having me.
